YES:1969-Anderson,
Squire, Bruford, Kaye, Banks
Personally I really like this album. The band never plays material
from this album in thier shows which is too bad. BEYOND AND BEFORE,
LOOKING AROUND, HAROLD LAND and SURVIVAL are all good tunes that
show the early beginnins of what YES would become. Banks plays some
very unique guitar pieces. It's too bad he doesn't get much mention
in the history of YES.

TIME AND A
WORD: 1970-Anderson, Squire, Bruford, Kaye, Banks
I always
felt the first album was better. TIME AND A WORD and SWEET DREAMS
are very nice but the songs that work for me on this album are
ASTRAL TRAVELLER, THEN and THE PROPHET. I think this album really
shows the band seeking which direction to go. (NOTE: STEVE HOWE
ON THE COVER BUT NOT ON THE ALBUM)

THE YES ALBUM:
1971-Anderson, Squire, Bruford, Kaye, Howe
The
chemistry that occurred when Steve Howe joined the band completely
changed the future of YES. While progressive tunes like STARSHIP
TROOPER, YOURS IS NO DISGRACE and PERPETUAL CHANGE dominate this
album it also includes ALL GOOD PEOPLE which has been a popular
radio tune for years (and I'm very tired of it).

FRAGILE: 1972-Anderson,
Squire, Bruford, Wakeman, Howe
The
lineup on FRAGILE is considered to be the CLASSIC line up of YES
although it only existed for two albums (excluding the fact they
all toured together in 1991 during the UNION tour). The album
includes radio favorites ROUNDABOUT and LONG DISTANCE RUN AROUND
and progressive tunes HEART OF THE SUNRISE and SOUTH SIDE OF THE
SKY (two of my favorites). Most YES fans consider THE YES ALBUM,
FRAGILE and CLOSE TO THE EDE as the bands best era.

CLOSE TO THE
EDGE: 1972-Anderson, Squire, Bruford, Wakeman, Howe
This was the
beginning of the epic song era for YES. The band did 3 strait
studio albums that all included songs that lasted at least one
side of the lp. Close to the Edge is simply a masterpiece, the
whole album, not just the song.
